Filipino President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has declared a disaster situation - which is triggered by significant loss of life, major damage to property, and disruption to means of livelihoods and the normal way of life for residents of impacted regions.

This powerful storm, called in the region Tino, tore through the densely inhabited island of Cebu, flooding complete communities and sweeping cars through the streets.

Many thousands of people had to be relocated, while some are sheltering in designated safe zones.
