The American champion Confident of Being 'perfectly positioned' for the upcoming Winter Olympics

Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, after earning a place on the rostrum for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup events.

The veteran athlete, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup top-three result.

Strong Return in the French Alps

Racing in the French Alps resort for the first time in eight years, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place.

"I didn't quite have enough direction on the initial jump," the skier commented. "From that point on, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my skiing today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill race on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn ended her career in February 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she made a stunning return in December 2024 after a significant orthopedic procedure.

With just over six weeks remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the next Olympics.

"At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed.

Aiming for Further Glory

In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has secured over a career spanning two decades.

She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table.

This current World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
